A Conversation on Streaming Media
The most recent episode of The Conversation, a podcast about tech and development news, delves deeply into the world of streaming content. Host Dan Benjamin interviews Dave Nanian of Shirt Pocket, and discusses the new Apple TV, Roku, and the downloadable TV industry as a whole.
Better yet, there’s a video version of the podcast on the 5 by 5 website, meaning you can watch streaming video about streaming video. Woah…. meta.
How To Stream Web Videos With Tivo
So by now we’ve all figured out how to stream Netflix movies through Tivos, Xboxes, or other devices. But what about harder-to-find web content? It’s fairly easy to stream web content straight through your Tivo. To do so:
- From the TiVo Central screen, select “Find TV, movies, & videos.”
- Select “Browse web videos.”
- Select “Video podcasts.” Then select a content category, like “Comedy” or “News,” to see a list of available titles in the chosen category.
- Select a video from the list of titles.
- Choose “Watch now” to begin watching the show, “Download this program” to send the show to My Shows, “Get a Season Pass” to receive all episodes of the show, or “Past programs” to find a show that has already aired.
And there you go…
“But, wait! I want to watch my favorite Mongolian throat-singing vlog and it’s not’s listed! What about me!?”
Well for you, lone hipster, there’s the option of manually adding the RSS feed of any video podcast and downloading your Huun-Huur-Tu videos directly.
